Cancer Research Funding Increased by 25 Percent
Another big victory in the fight against cancer!This week President Obama signed into law a stimulus package that includes significant funding to fight the war on cancer. After nearly six years of flat or cut funding for cancer research, we are going to see the largest increase for medical and cancer research since 2003.
Thanks to the advocacy efforts of ACS CAN and its volunteers, an additional $8.5 billion will go toward medical research at the National Institutes of Health (the agency overseeing all medical research), with at least $1.2 billion specifically dedicated to cancer research.
