Who Built This Website?

CancerCancer.org is a product of the Aedeas Group, LLC - a concept development workshop. The Aedeas Group builds early stage products for consumer and commercial applications. More on the Aedeas Group

For our part at the Aedeas Group, we saw a valuable niche that we would be able to fill on the web. Social networking has proven to be an immensely powerful way to connect. However, the current major players in social networking -- MySpace and Facebook, are very general and users are hard pressed to create new meaningful connections with like-minded or like-situated individuals. Mostly these platforms serve to connect those who already know each other.

What we really wanted to create was a platform where those with commonality could connect. Whether connected by a hobby, social condition, or medical condition, we wanted to provide a way for people to find each and offer each other the support, advise, and friendship that one of similar interest or situation could offer.

Is CancerCancer.org free?

If its free - How does CancerCancer.org make money?

  • Make sure the image you are attempting to upload is in one of the formats WeAre accepts (.gif, .jpg).
  • Make sure the filename is simple and short, with no spaces or funny characters. "Image.jpg" is a good filename "Me at the beach! drinking some Coors~~.jpg" is probably not going to work.
  • Make sure the file is less than 5MB. We do not allow images over 5MB.

Someone is pretending to be me - what do I do?

In order to verify your identity, please send us a "salute":
  • This means we will need an image of yourself holding a handwritten sign with the word "WeAre.us". We can then remove the profile that uses your identity without your permission.
  • Please be sure to include the web address/URL to the profile in question when you send your salute.
  • If the profile is an extremely obvious attempt to be cruel/false, you may not need to send a salute. Sending a salute will help expedite things, though!
  • Contact us at info@weare.us

Final Safety Tips when using CancerCancer.org:

WeAre makes it easy to express yourself, connect with friends and make new ones, but how you interact with them, and how you present yourself online are important things to think about when using social networking sites. Here are some common sense guidelines that you should follow when using :
  • Don't forget that your Profile and Discussion are public spaces. Don't post anything you wouldn't want the world to know (e.g., your phone number, address, IM screen names, or specific whereabouts). Avoid posting anything that would make it easy for a stranger to find you, such as where you hang out every day or a picture of you in front of your office or school.
  • People aren't always who they say they are. Be careful about adding strangers to your friends list. It's fun to connect with new WeAre friends, but avoid meeting people in person whom you do not fully know. If you must meet someone, do it in a public place and bring a friend or trusted adult.
  • Harassment, hate speech and inappropriate content should be reported. If you feel someone's behavior is inappropriate, react. Report it to us at info@weare.us
  • Don't post anything that would embarrass you later. It's easy to think that only our friends are looking at our WeAre page, but the truth is that everyone can see it. Think twice before posting a photo or information you wouldn't want your parents, potential employers, colleges or boss to see!
  • Don't misrepresent your age. If WeAre determines you are under 14 and pretend to be older, we will delete your profile. If WeAre determines you are over 18 and pretend to be a teenager to contact underage users, we will delete your profile.
